Meghan Markle and Harry destined to stay in Kate and William’s background due to ‘ruthless’ rule

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry had no chance of taking on a significant royal role alongside Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, broadcaster Tessa Dunlop claimed.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could not be allowed to receive the same treatment as Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, the broadcaster suggested. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties last year citing a desire to become financially independent and after admitting struggling with the pressure. Speaking to Mail+, Ms Dunlop said: “The greatest problem in all of this is that William, with his perfect wife Kate and their perfect three children that have been given these royal titles…

“It’s kind of game, set and match, isn’t it, for the Cambridges.

“What it looked like to Harry and Meghan was, ‘oh, where’s the space for us?’, misunderstanding or not understanding that is the ruthless machine called monarchy dating back to the Battle of Hastings and beyond.

“If you’re firstborn and ideally male, you will get it all and the rest of you? On your bike and remember to behave.”

She added: “That’s a hard message for a contemporary feminist like Meghan.”

The relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry has been tense for months, with reports of a feud dating back as early as May 2018.

The two brothers reunited briefly at the funeral of Prince Philip in April but attempts of reconciliation have seemingly failed so far.

The Duke of Sussex further contributed to the fraying relations with his older brother after making a series of bold claims and comments about the Royal Family during an unprecedented interview with Oprah Winfrey in March.

Prince Harry claimed both Prince William and their father Prince Charles feel “trapped” by the institution and likened life within the royal machine to the Truman Show.

Royal commentators have also suggested the Duke of Cambridge has been “deeply distressed” after details of a private conversation with his brother were reported to the public by US reporter Gayle King, a close friend of Meghan Markle.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, a royal insider said Prince William was “unhappy” with the Duchess of Sussex over comments made about Kate.

The insider noted the Duke is “fiercely protective” of the Duchess of Cambridge and did not take too kindly to his wife being brought into the feud.

During the interview with Oprah, the Duchess of Sussex reignited speculation about an exchange she was reported to have had with her sister-in-law to be over the dress Princess Charlotte would have to wear. Read more: daily express
